Join Buhos Tours for an eight-hour trip from La Paz to Nevado Charquini. With guides such as Manuel, Paty, and Juan, you will stop at Apacheta Jilarata, Milluni Cemetery, and Laguna Milluni before hiking from about 4,600 to 5,024 meters. Expect a short but demanding climb, cold weather, and superb Andean scenery.

“Incredible High-Altitude Hike to Laguna Esmeralda with Buhos Tours! My partner and I recently completed the Laguna Esmeralda trek near Charquini with Buhos Tours, and we absolutely loved the entire experience. It was challenging, rewarding, and perfectly organized. The Destination: The views at the top are truly breathtaking. The lagoon itself is a stunning, vibrant emerald color set against the dramatic backdrop of the Charquini Glacier and snowy peaks. If you've already spent time acclimatizing in La Paz, this is a fantastic hike. The altitude (over 5,000 meters) made it a tough push, but the stunning landscape was worth every single step. The Agency & Guide: We were so happy…”

The second night is however on a place with only power from 19:00-22:00 so it will be freezingly cold (so bring warm clothes for the night). The guide Orlando and the driver Gabriël were really nice, helpful and really did their best for us. All considered a really nice experience.”

“Uff! This trip is difficult to judge. On one hand we saw a kot of beautiful places: amazing salt Lake (wow!), cactus Island, mountains flamingos lakes, volcanos, rock formatoons, took bath in the hot springs. Saw will animals lime vicunias, desert foxes or vischachas. On the other hand this trip was EXTREMALLY challanging. Very low temperatures (down to -10C in the night), EXTREMALLY basis accomodation with no heating, hot water, electricity anky 3,5 hours during the evening. 9.El Alto and Cholets Guided Day Trip

Travel from La Paz to El Alto by public transport and cable car with a bilingual guide. Learn how cholets express Andean identity, visit up to two colorful homes when open, and see Mamani Mamani’s painted apartment buildings. Abraham has guided this route, but access inside cholets can depend on availability.

“I enjoyed seeing the Mamani Mamani apartment paintings. It all got very late, as the guide arrived at the meeting point 20 minutes late. Then we ride the teleferico and waited for the taxi again for more than 30 minutes. Guide spent a lot of time on her phone and didn't volunteer much information. She did answer questions. Unfortunately the guide was unable to find a cholet that was open, so we couldn't get inside one. All in all, it wasn't really worth the expense, for me.”

“The tour was an unorganized disaster from start to finish. 1) tour operator never contacted me ahead of time to coordinate details of the trip nor did they respond to my message asking to confirm pickup time and location. 2) Tour operator was 1.5 hours late picking me up. 3) Tour operator did not take the group to Puma Punku because the tour was running late due to the fact that the pick-up was mishandled. 4) Tour operator dropped me off at a different location than I was picked up at and had to walk 20 minutes back to the original pick-up point. “I have booked so many excursions here, I have traveled nearly 100 countries, all agencies contact us at least 1 day in advance giving details, info of each excursion, itinerary, nature of each activity, what to bring ,etc. This agency never contacted me, evening contacted them 4 times. When I arrived there, I just knew from the guide that we have to hike for 3hours+ on 5000 altitude, and super cold, I didn't have the hiking shoes, the high altitude medication and the warm clothes. And we didnt have time to have lunch before the hike. Very bad service from the agency.”
